Spring Has Arrived

Spring is officially here today. The snow still covers the ground and it appears as if winter is making its place known in our lives still in the north, but the light speaks of something quite different. Just yesterday I spotted the first crocus in the garden and the Daffodils I planted in the hillside before the first snow is now rising.

When we first moved here, I made it a point to plant everything that indicated spring had arrived. I have added over 100 crocuses and over 50 daffodil bulbs all over the land, not just in designated garden spaces. I love them popping up wildly in what feels like surprising places despite me planting them just a few months prior. I always forget where the holes were dug feverishly as the weather changed on the hill. My hands are almost always nearly numb by the time I complete and they usually warm by the time they emerge for us to enjoy.

Like most of us, I find the rhythm of the seasons quite beautiful and calming to my soul.
